If you are aware of someone who deserves recognition for their achievements and contributions to the field of entomology, please consider nominating them. Staff, faculty, or students may submit nominations. Students may also nominate themselves. Membership in the NCES is not required to submit an application.
Eligibility Requirements for Nominees of Master and Doctoral Student Awards
• The nominee must be a member of the NCES in good standing.
• They are a student at any college or university in the state of North Carolina, or graduated from an NC college or university within the past year.
• Their research is related to entomology.
• They have made significant achievements in the field of entomology during their graduate studies and show potential for future scientific achievement and contributions.
Special Requirements The Doctoral Student Award Recipient must attend the annual meeting as an invited speaker, to give a 10-15 minute presentation during the Presentations section of the meeting. Presentation should cover their research and be suitable for the general public, scientists and non-scientists alike. The award recipient will be given 2 weeks’ notice of the invitation to speak at the NCES annual meeting.
Judging Process All applications are anonymized and reviewed by a panel of NCES member judges using a standardized scoring sheet.
Award for Outstanding Masters Student $100 and a plaque
Award for Outstanding Doctoral Student $100 and plaque
We require two Letters of Recommendation (LOR).
